私たちの取り組む課題
コーディリエラ山岳地方は、2000メートル級の山々が連なる厳しい自然環境に阻まれ、インフラ整備が遅れているコミュニティが今も多くあります。山岳地方は豊かな森林資源、水資源、鉱物資源に恵まれていますが、住民である先住民たちの暮らしは貧困状態にあります。自然資源の豊かな山岳地方の環境保全が、フィリピン全体の環境保全に大きな影響を与えることになります。
近年首都マニラを中心に経済発展が著しく、長い間、自給自足に近い生活を継続してきた山岳地方にもグローバリゼーションの波が押し寄せ、先住民族たちは、自らの手で自然資源を破壊して開発を選択し始めています。原生林の商業野菜栽培地への転換、個人や小グループ単位での無許可の小規模鉱物資源の採掘などの環境問題は、日に日に山奥へと拡大しており、土砂崩落、土壌侵食、水質汚濁、乾季の水不足など、さまざまな環境問題が深刻化しています。
先住民たちには、環境問題を顧みない無計画で無謀な開発が暮らしに及ぼす影響についての情報が行き届いておらず、当たり前に先祖代々享受してきた豊かな自然に価値を見出していません。
The Cordillera mountainous region is hampered by the abundant nature of the 2,000-meter-high mountains. There are many communities that are still underdeveloped. The mountainous region is blessed with rich forest, water, and mineral resources, however, the indigenous peoples' lives are still in the state of poverty. By conserving the mountainous region’s rich natural resources， this will have a great impact on the environment of the Philippines as a whole.
In recent years, Manila, the capital city, has seen remarkable economic development, and the wave of globalization has reached the mountainous regions as well.After a long period of subsistence living, indigenous people are beginning to choose development by the means of destruction of natural resources. Indigenous people have restricted and little information on the impact of these negligent activities on the environment. They are not aware of the consequences they may face in the future if they continue their practice of hurting the environment for their personal gain.
なぜこの課題に取り組むか
コーディリエラ山岳地方の豊かな自然環境は、そこに暮らす先住民族の人たちが自ら守っていくしかありません。しかし、インフラ整備が遅れ、インターネットも届かず、教育の機会にも恵まれなかった先住民コミュニティの人たちが、ゼロから自らの手で環境保全活動を行うには困難を伴います。
コーディリエラ・グリーン・ネットワーク（ＣＧＮ）は、コーディリエラ山岳地方の中心地バギオ市に移住した反町眞理子が、自然環境や伝統文化の保全と継承にパッションをもつ先住民たちとともに立ち上げ、2001年、フィリピン共和国法でＮＧＯ法人として登録しました。以来、山岳地方のさまざまなコミュニティで、環境保全にかかわる活動を行ってきました。とくに先住民族が古来伝えてきた自然と調和し共生する叡智に学び、先住民族が伝えてきた伝統の文化・芸能を取り入れた独自の環境教育に関わるプロジェクトには、その活動に賛同した多くの日本の環境団体、アーティスト、環境活動家、研究者が協力・参加してきました。
また、先住民族の生計向上をできるだけ環境への負荷を少なく実現するために、アグロフォレストリー（森林農法）による換金作物の栽培指導を長年行ってきて、成果を上げてきました。とくに、山岳地方の気候と地質にあったアラビカコーヒーのアグロフォレストリー栽培は拡大しており、持続可能な形でのサポートをトレーニング終了後も継続するためフェアトレードによるサポートも開始しています。
近年は、同様の環境問題、社会問題を抱えるアジア各国のＮＧＯ団体やアーティストなどとの交流も積極的に行い、アジアの国々と連携し相互理解を深め意見交換をすることで、地球に暮らすすべての人にとって共通の課題である環境問題の解決に向けて、よりインパクトのある活動を行っています。
コーディリエラ・グリーン・ネットワーク日本事務局は、フィリピンでの団体の活動にファシリテイター、インターン、ボランティア、スタディツアー参加者などとしてかかわった人々を会員として、コーディリエラ・グリーン・ネットワークの活動をサポートすることを目的として任意団体として活動しています。
The Cordilleras is known for its rich and natural environment. Which should be protected by themselves. However, due to the limited access to the internet as well as the lack of educational opportunities in the mountainous region, people that live there have little or insubstantial information on the importance of protecting the environment as well as on how to properly care for it.
The Cordillera Green Network (CGN) was founded by Mariko Sorimachi. She moved to Baguio City which is known to be the heart of the Cordillera Mountain Region.Together with indigenous people who have a passion for the preservation and transmission of the natural environment and traditional culture, CGN was built and was registered as an NGO under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines in 2001.
Since then, CGN has been working for environmental conservation in various communities in the mountainous regions.
Many Japanese environmental organizations, artists, environmental activists, and researchers have joined the various environment educational project of CGN to learn the wisdom of the indigenous people. On their ways on how to coexist in harmony with nature and to incorporate their traditional culture and performing arts into unique environmental educational projects.
CGN has also been training indigenous people on how to cultivate cash crops using agroforestry methods to improve their livelihoods while having little environmental impact as possible.In particular, we have been promoting agroforestry cultivation of Arabica coffee which is suited to the climate of the mountainous regions.
CGN has also started trading coffee for fair trade to continue to support the project in a sustainable way even after the project has ended.
In recent years, CGN has been working with NGOs and artists from other Asian countries that tackles similar environmental and social problems.
A lot of Asian countries are facing the same environmental and societal problems as the Philippines, with this, CGN works hand in hand to be able to find a potent solution. Exchanging of opinions and cooperation with these neighboring countries is vital to have a deep mutual understanding regarding the reality we are facing today.
The Cordillera Green Network Japan Office is a civil society organization established to support the activities of organizations in the Philippines.
Its members are mainly those who have been involved in past CGN projects as facilitators, interns and volunteers.

●水源を守るためのコミュニティ共有地の植林のための苗木購入費と植樹活動のときの先住民参加者のためのフード・フォー・ワーク費用
●コミュニティとして収穫したアラビカ・コーヒーの実を品質の良いコーヒー豆に精製するための機材や資材購入費
●コーディリエラ・グリーン・ネットワーク（ＣＧＮ）フィリピン事務所の運営・管理経費
●アグロフォレストリーによるコーヒー栽培をさらに多くの先住民コミュニティに広げるためのコーヒー・スクール開校のための準備費用
Donations received will be used to support Cordillera Green Network's environmental conservation activities in the Philippines.
-Your donation will be used to cover the cost of travel, venue, and materials for the indigenous people to participate in the "Environmental Themed Theatre and Art Workshop for Indigenous Children and Youth".
-To cover the cost of purchasing Arabica coffee seedlings through agroforestry (forest farming)
-To cover the cost of purchasing seedlings for the planting of trees on community common land to protect water sources.
-To cover for the food of participants during tree planting activities.
-To cover the cost of purchasing equipments and materials to refine the Arabica coffee harvested by the community into quality coffee beans.
-To cover operation and administrative expenses of the Cordillera Green Network (CGN) Philippines office.
-To cover the expense used to prepare for the opening of a coffee school to expand agroforestry coffee cultivation to more indigenous communities.
