この法人は、動物行動学者であり国連平和大使でもあるジェーン・グドール博士が創設した、世界規模の環境および人道的プログラム「Roots & Shoots」の理念を広め、動物・自然・人間が調和して生きられる社会の実現を目指す。そのために、若者が起点となって地域を探究し、実践的なプロジェクトに主体的に取り組むことで、行動を通して希望と思いやりのあるリーダーシップを育むことを目的とする。
