Do you know the secret of WAN’s birth?

WAN was born 10 years ago because Mr. Toru Hashimoto became Governer of Osaka Prefecture.

Mr. Hashimoto is the midwife for WAN, so to speak.

One of his first political acts was to close down the Osaka Municipal Center for Youth and Gender Equality (Dawn Center).

Some women rebelled against this decision and established the current WAN.

Back then, there was a massive backlash against feminism.

Therefore, we’ve been striving throughout this decade in the hopes of having an alternative media outlet, which is safe and truthful, for women. 

We have heard from many people that they are deeply appreciative of having WAN to fight for feminism.
