ブラック・ライブズ・マター 東京は、今アメリカをはじめ、世界に広まっている黒人差別反対運動に賛同しその活動へのサポートを示すためにつくられました。この問題をとおし、日本国内でも起きている人種差別問題に光をあて、人種差別の歴史的背景や現状を考えながら、今よりもよりインクルーシブで多様性溢れる社会を実現することを目指しています。私たちは人種差別問題の意識や認識を高め、“アメリカの問題” としてではなくここ日本でも注目されるべき問題として情報を発信し、人種差別についてもっと身近に考える機会を提供していくことを目的としています。

Who We Are

Black Lives Matter Tokyo was created to express solidarity with the black community and the BLM movements in Japan and abroad. Our goal is to spread awareness on these issues, not just as problems faced by Americans, but by examining the global scope of them, shed light on its relevance right here in Japan. We aim to strengthen our ties with the Japanese community through anti-racist action, community outreach efforts, and education on black history and the history of racism in order to move towards a more culturally diverse and understanding community for all.

人種差別は、日本も含め世界的な問題です。日本で黒人として生活するということは、同時に多くの人種差別を経験することも意味します。外国人が受ける差別や偏見の他にも、黒人特有の “アンチブラック的” な差別を受けることも少なくはありません。

在日外国人の3人に1人は人種差別を経験すると言います。また、黒人を含む在日外国人の４割は、日本での住まい探しにおいて冷遇を受けることがある他、警察から不相応に身分証や所持品の捜索を要求されることも少なくありません。これらの大きな理由の一つとして、日本のメディアで “外国人が日本人よりも犯罪を起こす可能性が大きい” というイメージが植えつけられているということが考えられています。その結果、外国人が犯罪行為を疑われた時に85％もの日本人が誤った情報やデマを信じてしまいます。もしその対象が黒人であれば、警察から不当に検査されることや、犯罪行為に関与していると思われる確率は一層高まります。

国内で人種差別問題に向き合っているのは外国人だけではありません。ミックスとして日本国籍を持ち生活する人たちも、外見が “日本人らしくない” という理由で差別の対象となっています。白人的な外見を持つミックスの人と比べ、黒人とのミックスである場合 より悪質な差別を受けることが多いとされています。このような偏見はオンラインでの嫌がらせや白人を美化するようなメディアのコンテツなどで膨らんできました。ミックスとして日本に暮らす人たちは、日本人でありながらも自分の母国に受け入れてもらえないと感じながら成長することも少なくないといいます。

人種差別問題は世界中のコミュニティーの中で計り知れないほどの有害な影響を与えてきました。私たちは、世界中で起こる人種差別撲滅運動に賛同しながら、国内で起こる問題に光を当て、差別をなくしすべての人種が支えあいながら平等に暮らせる社会を目指します。

Racism is a global issue - and a Japanese one. Being black in Japan means dealing with multiple levels of discrimination: general xenophobia due to being perceived as foreign, as well as explicitly anti-black racism. 

Racism is not only experienced by foreigners. It is also experienced by Japanese citizens who are treated differently due to their appearance. Mixed race Japanese citizens who are half black are

All around the world, racism impacts various communities in distinctively harmful ways. While each group's struggles may differ, we all share a collective mission: to end racism and promote racial equity for all. By highlighting the unique triumphs and struggles of the black community in Japan and connecting these issues to global movements, we hope to do our part in creating a world that is welcoming to people of all races, cultures, and backgrounds. 

現在ブラック・ライブズ・マター 東京は、ボランティアで集まったクリエイターやオーガナイザーがイベントの企画や運営を行っています。しかし、これらのイベントをこれからも持続的に実現するためには運営資金が必要となります。皆様からいただいた募金は、現在企画中の以下イベントを実現させるために活用させていただきます。

1. リアルトーク：人種差別問題について考えるウェビナーシリーズ
2. ハーモニック・ウェイブレングス：黒人アーティストをフィーチャーした音楽配信 ライブイベント
3. KOKU ZINE：“ブラック視点から見る日本” 在日黒人アーティストたちのアート作品集マガジン

How we will use your donations

Black Lives Matter Tokyo is currently run by a group of volunteers who are passionate at bring events to educate, advocate and support the BLM movement. However, as much as we donate our time, we also require funds to bring these events to you. Currently, we are planning:

1. RealTalk. : An online based educational webinar series tackling issues related to racism
2. Harmonic Wavelength : Live streaming music event featuring black & non-black artists showing support for the BLM movement
3. KOKU ZINE : A zine featuring black artists in Japan with a theme of "Experiencing Japan through Blackness"

All proceeds will go towards making these events happen & available to everyone. Please consider donating to help us bring contents to inspire, educate, and keep this movement alive in Japan.
