海が傷んでいます。いま世界中の海で、海の森「藻場」が衰退する「磯焼け」が起きています。大量繁殖したウニや、温暖化で冬も活発になった魚が海藻を食べつくすことが大きな原因です。藻場の磯焼けにより生物多様性が失われ、漁業に悪影響を及ぼし、二酸化炭素が固定されず地球温暖化も加速させています。
The oceans are suffering. Kelp forests where seaweeds grow are fast disappearing from the coasts around the world. This is called kelp denudation. In Japan, the loss of kelp forests are partly caused by sea urchins that overpopulate the shorelines. Due to kelp denudation, the biodiversity of marine life becomes depleted, leading to serious consequences in the coastal fishing industry. On top of this, invaluable ability for sequestering carbon dioxide is also lost. As the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increase, temperatures soar as a result of the greenhouse effect.
Why we are tackling this issue
モバイルラッコ隊は、日本の美しく豊かな海の森「藻場」を守るために、垣根をつくらず様々な人たちと協力しながら、科学的アプローチにより活動しています。日本の藻場を脅威にさらす「磯焼け」問題の解決により、海の生物多様性の保全、漁業への貢献、そして気候変動への具体的な防止策とすることを目指しています。
Mobile Sea Otters aims to restore and conserve the beautiful and fertile Japanese kelp forests, collaborating with many people including fishermen and divers, and deploying scientific approaches. We believe that tackling kelp denudation will help conserve healthy marine ecosystem, contribute to the local fishery industry and slow down climate change.
How donations are used
頂いた寄付金は、主な活動である大量繁殖したウニの駆除・間引き、モニタリング調査、成熟した海藻のタネ設置、ボランティアダイバー向けの勉強会開催に必要な様々な使途（ダイビングや調査・撮影機材、メンテナンス費用、旅費交通費、保険料、通信費、会計費、スタッフ人件費等）に使用させていただきます。
Your donation will be used for various expenses associated with our activities: culling overgrazing urchins, monitoring research, installing spore bags to encourage kelp regrowth and hosting events for volunteers, etc.: This includes scuba diving, monitoring and recording equipment, maintenance, travel costs, insurance, telecom, overhead costs including accounting fees and staff wages amongst others.
