I’m Kaoruco, a 69-year-old choreographer from Japan. I have created more than 1,300 choreographies for high-profile TV commercials, films, and popular media.

For 31 years, I have also explored the extraordinary expressions of people with disabilities. Their spontaneous freedom moved me deeply: This is art!

Through this work, I have discovered the unique vitality and joy within every person. Each body is one of a kind, and from it can emerge an expression that no one else could create. When different people perform together without becoming the same, each person shines—and together, they create something even more powerful.

This has shaped my practice: become aware of the body, understand it, and connect through it.

Now, after more than 30 years of practice, we want to pass this way of living and connecting to the next generation and into more communities.

Developing people. Creating spaces. Connecting people.

Your support can help us take this first step toward Until the Whole World Dances.

In an age of disembodiment and virtual communication, we believe that reconnecting through our living bodies—while respecting our differences—can lead us toward a more peaceful future.

A Method for Releasing the Self Hidden Within the Body

The Nature Vibration Method, practiced in our workshops, was developed from insights I gained through deeply sensing and observing nature.

Once, I felt as if I could hear a resonance in everything around me—as though all things were part of one perfectly harmonious symphony. I was deeply moved by the realization: We human beings are part of this living world, too.

This experience resonates, in some ways, with the animistic idea that spirit exists within all things.

The method is rooted in improvisation. There is no single right answer; what matters is being fully present in the moment. By grounding ourselves and finding a stable connection to the earth, Connecting with your true self, which lies within your soul.

This can lead to the joy of discovering something new within ourselves—and to changes that arise from within.

Barrier-Free Workshops — A Place Where We Can Connect While Remaining Different

Our "Barrier-Free Workshops" are open to people with a wide range of disabilities as well as people without disabilities. Everyone can participate on an equal footing, exploring expression and communication through the body.

These workshops have witnessed remarkable transformations.

In a society increasingly shaped by advanced technology and efficiency, we are spending less time living through our bodies. That is why we have created a place where the goal is not simply to acquire new abilities, but to nurture the unique qualities that belong to each person.

One participant, who has agenesis of the corpus callosum and initially found even basic communication difficult, gradually began to speak, stand independently, and eventually express himself through dance through continued participation in the workshops.

Another participant, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, developed a strong desire to perform on stage. Through dedicated physical practice, he strengthened his body and eventually became an artist able to stand and dance.

Everyone participates on an equal footing, learning to respect one another through the body. In this way, the workshops have grown into a place where everyone—not only people with disabilities—can connect while remaining fully themselves.

Because the body is honest, it can create a powerful space of resonance that transcends status, age, and other differences. Again and again, this has moved and inspired the people who share these moments.

In a world that is gradually losing touch with the body, we do not want this extraordinary possibility to remain a miracle experienced by only a few.

Passing More Than 30 Years of Practice to the Next Generation

We do not want this work to belong to Kaoruco alone.

To local communities.

To the next generation.

And beyond borders.

Please help us take that next step with your donation.

Until the Whole World Dances.

Until everyone, everywhere, can live freely—

in their own body,

in their own way.

The Future Your Donation Can Build

Kaoruco alone cannot bring this practice to everyone who needs it.

That is why our next step is to develop people.

Your support will help us build the capacity we need to carry this work forward.

01 | PEOPLE

We will train facilitators who can create inclusive, creative spaces where everyone can participate, communicate, and express themselves freely.

This will ensure that more than 30 years of Nature Vibration practice can be passed on to the next generation.

Step 1 | September 26–November 4, 2026

02 | LOCAL CAPACITY

We will establish our first new regional hub outside Tokyo and create a sustainable structure through which everyone can participate, regardless of financial circumstances.

We will also create opportunities for facilitators to build sustainable careers by using their skills professionally.

Step 2 |  November 5–December 25, 2026

03 | FUTURE COMMUNICATION

We will build the capacity to respond whenever schools, welfare organizations, cultural programs, and local communities say, “We want to participate.”

Rather than simply “exporting” a practice developed in Japan, we will build connections with citizens around the world—including through our exchange with Social Founders in the UK—and share ways of valuing the gift we all possess: our bodies.

Step 3 | January 8–March 8, 2027

Caroline from Social Founders, Kaoruco and Mr. Kiho

How Your Donation Will Be Used

01 | Facilitator Training

¥1,200,000 (¥240,000 × 5 people) ≒5,700 GBP / 7,700 USD

The first facilitator candidates already have experience with the Nature Vibration Method.

To become independent facilitators, they need a step-by-step process combining systematic training, supervised practice, constructive feedback, opportunities to facilitate, and mentoring.

We will begin by training:

  • 2–3 senior facilitators based in Tokyo
  • 2–3 regional facilitators based in Nagoya and Osaka

Each candidate will receive approximately six intensive individual or small-group training sessions combined with practical experience.

The program will include:

  • In-person lessons
  • Remote learning
  • Practical workshops
  • Observation and reflection in real settings
  • Feedback and mentoring
  • Co-facilitation

The essential question for a facilitator is:

Can you create a space where people from different backgrounds feel safe to participate, communicate, and express themselves as they are?

Our immediate goals are for trainees to co-lead workshops with Kaoruco, facilitate parts of workshops independently, respond flexibly and appropriately to diverse participants, and eventually step in for Kaoruco when needed.

Becoming fully independent—able to design and run programs on their own—will require several years of experience. We will build these steps carefully, one by one, so that this work can eventually reach communities around the world.

02 | Building Regional Hubs and Pursuing Sustainability

¥3,000,000 ≒ 14,300 GBP /  19,300 USD

(Participant subsidies: ¥12,500 × 6 months × 6 sessions × 40 participants, plus venue costs, facilitator fees, travel, and other expenses.)

Once a region has a facilitator ready to lead the work, we will establish our first local hub.

Our current candidates are Nagoya and Osaka. The location will be determined by considering the facilitator’s commitment, participant needs, accessibility, relationships with the local community, and long-term sustainability.

Our first goal is simple: one workshop a month for six consecutive months.

Depending on local needs, sessions may be led by regional facilitators, supported on site by Kaoruco, or co-facilitated by experienced members from Tokyo.

Phase 1 | Six months

Focus on building an operating structure suited to the number and needs of participants.

Phase 2 | Six months

Examine, document, and evaluate what is needed to make the work sustainable in the community over the long term.

What we learn will feed directly into the training of future facilitators and the development of future regional hubs.

Workshop fees can be a barrier for people with disabilities. We therefore want to ensure that no one is excluded because of their financial circumstances.

We will explore a range of approaches, including:

  • Free or low-cost introductory sessions
  • Grants and sponsorships
  • Sliding-scale participation fees
  • Other forms of community support

It is equally important to create sustainable income opportunities for skilled facilitators.

We want to create an environment where dancers, actors, teachers, care professionals, community artists, and others working in creative or caring fields can bring new dimensions to their expertise and open up new possibilities for work and practice.

03 | Global Civic Exchange: A Step Toward Peace

¥2,100,000 ≒ 10,000 GBP / 13,500 USD

(Event costs, travel, and other expenses.)

We will hold a public forum to build momentum around this work and open it more widely to society.

Working with pioneering inclusive dance organizations in the UK, we will share our respective practices and learn from one another, exchanging knowledge, experience, and wisdom.

Cross-border exchange can help us see more clearly just how precious the human body is—and what kind of society and world we want to create.

It will also allow us to share this vision more deeply with people in our local communities and around the world.

In this way, we will take small but tangible steps toward a more peaceful world.

Looking further ahead, we dream of facilitators from different communities and members of Api Lucky coming together with people in the UK to hold workshops, create performances, and share experiences.

We will continue this work toward a new future in an age of disembodiment.

Until the Whole World Dances.

Thirty years ago, when I first met Kaoruco, she was already a celebrated choreographer, creating hit works for Japan’s entertainment industry, television commercials, and popular media.

I had only just begun dancing, and she seemed to me like someone from a dazzling world far removed from my own. Yet even with an incredibly demanding schedule, she never missed her Sunday classes for children with disabilities. She has continued that work to this day.

“Choreography is about bringing out what makes each person shine.”

That is what I have seen her do throughout the years: bringing out the unique brilliance in every person she meets, while continuing to dance herself.

I am one of those people whose own inner light she helped bring to life. She showed me the infinite possibilities and richness of dance.

Until the Whole World Dances.

I wholeheartedly support Kaoruco and Api Lucky as they take on this new challenge.
