Despite concerns over a typhoon heading straight for the Kanto region, we successfully held the 1st Experiential Servant Leadership Workshop over the Silver Week holiday on September 21st - 22nd!
Servant Leadership, often described as “leading through service” or “serving leadership,” is one of the core pillars of ARI’s training.
Together with participants of various ages and professions, we explored questions like:
"What exactly is Servant Leadership?"
"What qualities are needed to become a good servant leader?"
It was a uniquely ARI "experiential" two days. Holding umbrellas and wearing rain boots, we stepped out onto the ARI campus to touch the soil and engage all five senses, reflecting on what "soil" can teach us about leadership. We also listened to two Training Assistants share their real-world experiences practicing servant leadership in their home countries, and engaged in hands-on practice of "listening"—the most vital aspect of servant leadership.
In the past, ARI’s study camps were primarily geared toward high school and university students. Starting this year, however, we are actively planning programs for working professionals. This workshop was the very first installment in that effort.
We received so many applications that we exceeded our capacity, showing us just how high the interest in servant leadership really is.
We are excited to announce that the 2nd Experiential Servant Leadership Workshop will take place on February 22nd - 23rd!
It will be held after this year’s ARI participants graduate, but if you find yourself thinking:
"I'm curious about Servant Leadership."
"I want to reflect on my own leadership style."
"I want to experience leadership that begins with serving others."
...we warmly invite you to join us!
