We are raising funds to assist in the effort for a quick recovery for artisans who lost their workshops and tools in the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
能登半島地震の影響で工房や道具を失った職人さんたちのための復興支援金も集めています。
ストーリー
On January 1st, 2024, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck the Noto area in Ishikawa Prefecture. The earthquake also triggered a tsunami that caused extensive damage, especially in Wajima and Suzu.
The earthquake killed more than 200 people, and some are still missing. Noto Peninsula is a very important area for traditional Japanese crafts, including Wajima-nuri lacquerware. As a result of the earthquake and the fire, many craftsmen lost their homes and workshops.
Its history dates back to the Jomon Period (10,000 B.C. ), and lacquerware from that time has been excavated. From the Muromachi period to the Edo period (1500s-1600s), the Wajima-Nuri technique was established and has continued to the present day. Wajima-nuri, which has been around for such a long time, is now in a state of destruction.
As well as Wajima lacquerware, the Noto Peninsula is known for woodwork, textiles, ceramics, and other wonderful traditional crafts. To ensure that artisans can continue to practice their craft in the future, we would like to support those who lost their livelihoods due to the disaster.
At this time, our priority is to support the lives of those who have suffered from damage and those who have been evacuated from the affected areas with fear. We also would like to give some support to obtain materials and tools for the affected artisans when they move forward to recover and resume their activities.
Our activities are supported by Mr. Kirimoto of Wajima Kirimoto, who himself was affected by the disaster. We will work closely with him and carefully use the funds to provide solid support for traditional crafts.

2024年1月1日、マグニチュード7.6の地震が石川県の能登半島を襲いました。
震災は津波も起こし、特に輪島市や珠洲市で大きな被害を生みました。
今回の震災では、200人を超える方が亡くなり、未だに行方不明の方がいます。
輪島塗の職人が多く工房を構える地域でも広範囲に火災が起こり、たくさんの工房が消失・倒壊しました。
能登半島は華やかで堅牢な漆器の輪島塗を中心に、日本の伝統工芸を支えるとても大切な産地です。
その歴史は長く、縄文時代（紀元前10000年）の漆器も出土しているほどです。
室町時代〜江戸時代（1500年代〜1600年代）にかけて輪島塗の技法が確立され現在へと続いています。
そんな長く続いてきた輪島塗が今壊滅状態にあります。
能登半島は輪島塗だけではなく、木工芸、テキスタイル、陶芸など本当に素晴らしい伝統工芸が繋がれている地域です。
そんな震災で被害を受けた職人さんたちが未来へとものづくりを繋ぐための支援を集めたいと思います。
現時点では、被害を受けた方々の命と、被災地域で不安を抱えながら避難されている方々への支援が優先ですが、
復興へと進み始めるときのために、被災した職人さんたちが活動を再開する時の材料や道具を購入するための
資金として使えるようにお渡ししたいと考えています。
私たちの活動では、自ら被災された輪島キリモトの桐本さんにご協力を頂いています。
密に連携をとり、伝統工芸への確かな支援となるように大切に使わせて頂きます。
