第2回目の活動報告は、ストーリーページ（

パートナー団体（１）：フィリピン盲人連合(略称：PBU)の理事長を務められている、チンさんからのメッセージです。

マッサージは、フィリピンだけでなく、国際的にも視覚障害者の生活を支える主要収入源となっています。

従いまして、新型コロナウイルスの発生、及び感染予防のために実施されたロックダウンにより、マッサージ業に従事する視覚障害者の労働者は、家庭を支えるための収入を得ることが困難な状況となっています。

フィリピン政府による経済的な支援や食糧支援も多少行われているものの、この困難を解消できるほど充分なものではありません。絶望的な状況に陥った視覚障害者のなかには、施しを求めてマニラのストリートに繰り出している人たちもおり、この状況を大変憂慮しています。

この状況を鑑み、フリー・ザ・チルドレン・ジャパンの中島早苗氏と石田由香理氏が暖かい心で行動を起こしてくださったことを、とても嬉しく思っています。日本でもパンデミックが発生しているにもかかわらず、フィリピン盲人連合と視覚障害者ITセンターと協働して、職を失ったマッサージ師の視覚障害者たちが、デジタルビジネスに関する基本的スキルを身につける研修を受けることができるよう、支援に尽力してくださるということで、とてもありがたく思っています。

この研修により、職を失ったマッサージ師たちは、オンラインプラットフォームを介して行うビジネスを通じて、それぞれの家庭を支えるために必要な収入を得ることが可能となります。

フィリピンの視覚障害者たち、そしてフィリピン盲人連合を代表して、このトレーニングを実現するためにこのクラウドファンディングを支援して下さった全ての皆様に、心からのお礼を申し上げます。

この研修は、マッサージに従事する我が国の視覚障害者の同胞たちが、職を失い長期的な困難に直面することが確実視されている現状において、暮らしを支えるための大切なセーフティーネットになるだろうと確信しています。

Massage work has been the primary source of livelihood of many blind and visually-impaired persons not only in the Philippines but also globally.

Hence, at the onset of the COVID 19 in January this year and the consequent community quarantine lockdowns, blind and visually-impaired workers engaged in the massage industry were not able to provide for their family’s daily needs. While the Philippines government has provided some financial and food aid, this has not been sufficient to cover for these needs. It is alarming that some of the blind persons in desperation, have resorted to begging for alms in the streets of Manila.

We are very glad therefore when kind persons such as Miss Yukari Ishida and Miss Sanae Nakajima of the Free The Children Japan (FTCJ), despite the presence of the pandemic also in Japan, have endeavored to support the blind and visually-impaired community in the Philippines by collaborating with the Philippine Blind Union and ATRIEV Computer Center for the Blind, in giving displaced masseurs training in Digital Business Basics in order for them to be able to do business thru online platforms so that they can independently provide for the basic needs of their respective families.

On behalf of the blind and visually-impaired community in the Philippines and the Philippine Blind Union, I would like to convey our warmest and heartfelt appreciation for any financial support that will make this training a reality. This training for our blind brothers in the massage industry will certainly go a long way in sustaining the welfare of our displaced masseurs.
