■ 学びの場が「危険な環境」に変わるとき When Learning Becomes Dangerous

教育は安全な環境で提供されるべきですが、フィリピンにある私たちの提携校では、異常な暑さが教室を危険な空間に変えてしまっています。気温は日常的に危険なレベルまで上昇し、多くの教室には換気設備や冷房器具が一切ありません。

あまりの暑さに、子どもたちは健康や集中力を維持することができず、授業中に倒れてしまう（失神する）生徒もいるほどです。NICE NPOは、安全な学習環境を取り戻すために扇風機を寄贈する活動を行ってきましたが、必要とされている支援はまだ山ほどあります。何百人もの生徒が今も過酷な暑さにさらされ、危険に晒されています。すべての子どもたちが安全で人間らしい環境で学べるよう、必要な冷却設備を提供するキャンペーンを立ち上げます。

Education should be a safe space for growth, but in several of our partner schools in the Philippines, extreme classroom heat has turned learning into a physical hazard. Temperatures regularly rise to unsafe levels, and many classrooms have no ventilation or cooling equipment.

The heat is so severe that children are struggling to stay healthy and focused, and students have even fainted during lessons. NICE NPO stepped in by donating electric fans to restore safe learning conditions, but the need is far greater. Many classrooms still face severe heat, putting hundreds of students at risk. We are launching this campaign to provide the necessary cooling equipment to ensure every child can learn in a safe, humane environment.

■ 生徒たちが直面する困難 |The Struggles Students Face

猛暑の影響は、単なる「不快感」にとどまりません。子どもたちの健康と学習の可能性に深刻な影響を与えています。

• 健康と安全への脅威： 失神、熱中症、脱水症状が日常的な脅威となっています。極端な高温は、体力の少ない子どもたちにとって教室を危険な場所にしています。
• 集中力の低下： 体温調節に必死な状態では、学習に集中することはほぼ不可能です。その結果、学力も著しく低下してしまいます。
• 過酷な学習環境： 適切な換気ができない教室は、淀んだ猛烈な熱気を閉じ込め、子どもたちや教師にとって耐え難い、過酷な環境を作り出しています。

The impact of extreme heat extends far beyond discomfort. It severely affects a student's well-being and academic potential:

• Health and Safety Risks: Fainting, heat exhaustion, and dehydration are daily threats. The extreme temperatures make the classroom a dangerous environment for vulnerable children.
• Loss of Concentration: It is nearly impossible to focus on learning when the body is desperately struggling to regulate its temperature. Academic performance naturally declines.
• Dangerous Environments: Classrooms without proper ventilation trap stagnant, sweltering air, making the environment inhumane and unbearable for both children and teachers.
